Golf Business Network began in 2003 with the idea that golf lovers like to do business on the golf course. Our mission is to provide an outstanding venue for business people to network and build friendships through the great game of golf.
How does it work?
We get together the 2nd Thursday of every month in the Conference Center at LaFortune Golf Course. The meetings are open to everyone, so you can join us any time you like — even if you choose not to become a Member. And you don't have to be an awesome golfer either... anyone who wants to play gets to play!
We begin each meeting at 11:00. Start off in the Pro Shop by signing up for "Lunch Only" ($10, which includes a 2$ meeting fee) or "Lunch and Golf" ($43.50 for 9 holes, or $50 for 18 holes; both options include green fee, cart rental, range balls, $2 meeting fee, and $10 prize fee) and pay at the register. Next, go to the Conference Center and sign in on the GBN Roster.
The formal meeting will start with brief opening statements and announcements. Then, attendees get to introduce themselves and give an "elevator speech" describing the business they represent. Attendees are encouraged to distribute marketing materials as well. After that, we usually have a 10-minute presentation by a featured speaker. Finally, we announce team assignments for the golf tournament! |

What about the golf?
At 12:00, everyone who signed up to play golf can find a cart partner and then head to the practice range. The first team will be called to the first tee box at 12:30, with subsequent teams called as soon as possible thereafter.
All players will then compete in a 9-hole Scramble tournament (click here to see our Scramble Guidelines). Teams are assigned at random based upon the stated handicap of each player. We use a computer program to ensure that the teams are as evenly matched as possible.

Once your team has completed the first 9 holes, turn in your team scorecard to the Pro Shop. Once all the scorecards are in, GBN personnel will determine the winning team(s) based on Lowest Team Score and post the results on our Events page.
If you are a GBN Member and you played on a winning team, you will receive a payout at the next GBN meeting. The payouts are usually LaFortune Pro Shop gift certificates, and they oftentimes exceed the cost of that day's "Lunch and Golf"! We also compete for a "Closest to the Pin" prize on one or both of the Par 3 holes. If you are a GBN Member and you hit your ball on the green and closest to the pin, you win a gift certificate for 2 free rounds of golf with cart at LaFortune! |
Finally, if you signed up for 18 holes of golf, you can play the remaining 9 holes "just for fun".
How do I become a member?
You must be a Member to receive a prize, so membership definitely pays! All you have to do to become a GBN Member is pay your dues to any GBN Board of Directors officer. Membership dues are $50 for the full year if you pay before July 1, or $25 for the half year if you join on or after July 1. And remember, if you win even one tournament event during the year, the payout will likely cover the cost of your Membership dues!
